I recently completed a restoration on this Case 170B excavator, which we've named Large Marge, then I put her back to work pulling stumps. She performed well for several hours, but then blew out the big hydraulic line that serves the boom lift function. This is a bigger deal than you might think, because the machine has obsolete Poclain 2 bolt flange fittings on these lines which are no longer available, so I have to figure out a way to replace the hose with a new one with modern fittings. I get that sorted out and quickly another line blows out! Thankfully I already have the replacement so I get that one fixed pretty quickly. Then I fabricate a new step to replace a previously replaced one that just holds dirt. I re-tension the tracks and grease the outer ring gear. Then back to work she goes.
