I finally got around making this one. The Nintendo Game Boy is a classic by now.
In my youth it was an expensive toy... too expensive for my parents.

When I got my first job, I saved up a bit and threw away some hard earned money for a toy that was almost entirely obsolete by the time - which was around 1993.

Sadly, I was not all that satisfied back then: the games were also on the pricy side and didn't offer any save function at all. That made "story driven" games prohibitive because the batteries didn't even last that long and nobody (at least not me) would play these games in one go. The only cherished game was the one that came in the box: Tetris!
I played that up and down, in and out. But to differentiate my Game Boy from the classic LCD games of the time, I needed at least one more game. I found R-Type to be tolerable: mindless shooting in space was at least somewhat entertaining until you died and had to re-start form the beginning.
