atkelar | Workshop Project #11 - CNC Mill @atkelar | Uploaded October 2021 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
In the Commodore 1520 restoration/repair video, I made use of a tiny CNC mill that I got for exactly that purpose. It is known as a "Genmitsu 1810-PRO" and was the best compromise between cost and what looked to me a reasonable quality.
This video features the process from unpacking, assembling up to the first test piece and my impressions of the model.
Over all, I am happy with the device, but like any affordable solution, it had some little issues that took a bit of extra time. I did go at the build process slightly too fast at times and had to "fix" some of my own errors along the way too. Whoops.
Note: I only discovered the "limit switch input" on the controller after the video was almost done. I initially thought this connector was a "programming" interface of sorts. But I still say, they could have added a few microswitches...
