Building a Simple Two-Device Android POS System
A streamlined Point of Sale (POS) system can be effectively set up using two Android devices (optimized for tablets) connected to the same Wi-Fi SSID. This setup splits operations between a main cashier terminal and a processing display for kitchens, packaging, or storage teams.

Core Applications Setup
The system relies on two main applications working in tandem:
pos-system.apk` (Main Device , Cashier): Acts as the central hub that stores all transactions, handles item lists, processes orders, and generates bills via a Bluetooth thermal printer. It also generates sales reports and invoices in PDF format.
display.apk (Secondary Device / Kitchen, Storage, or Packaging): Functions strictly as a display terminal that receives order data from the main system without storing local data permanently. It can print order processing details or labels using a Bluetooth thermal printer.
Connection and Operation Guide
1. Network Configuration: Ensure both Android devices are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi SSID.
2. Device Startup:
Open `display.apk` on the secondary device first and check its IP address.
Open the POS system app `pos-system.apk`, navigate to settings, enter that IP address, and save. Make sure the display device is prevented from entering sleep mode so the program runs continuously.
3. Managing Orders & Billing:
Enter product lists, menus, or items into the POS system.
Select items, input quantities, and let the system calculate totals.
Click Print to generate the customer bill on the thermal printer.
Click Checkout to instantly transmit order data over the local network to `display.apk` for the kitchen or packaging team.
4. Order Completion: Once an order is fulfilled, staff using `display.apk` can print labels, delete completed entries, and prepare the next order.
Preventing Android Sleep Mode for display.apk
To ensure display.apk remains active and keeps the kitchen or storage screen running continuously without going to sleep, you can apply settings at either the Android operating system level or through application programming methods.
Android System Settings
For dedicated kitchen or display tablets plugged into power sources, you can force the OS to stay awake:
Enable Developer Options:
Go to Settings - About Tablet - Build Number.
Tap Build Number 7 times until a message appears saying "You are now a developer."
Turn on "Stay Awake":
Navigate back to Settings - Developer Options.
Toggle on Stay Awake (Screen will never sleep while the device is charging).

Restaurants
Front-of-house staff take orders and handle billing while the kitchen uses `display.apk` to track food preparation in real time.
Bakeries & Retail
Orders are received at the counter and sent directly to a packing department to prepare take-away items or manage multiple inventory goods efficiently.
Cashiers take drink orders at the counter and process payments, while the baristas view the incoming drink queue instantly on display.apk to prepare and pack cups.
Auto Repair & Service Shops
Front-desk staff log customer vehicle requests, print billing invoices, and send specific repair tasks directly to display.apk located in the mechanic bay.
Small Warehouses & Inventory Fulfillment
Office staff receive online or phone orders, log them into the POS system for invoicing, and transmit picking lists instantly to display.apk in the packing or shipping warehouse.
