Resident Evil Remake is often considered one of the most faithful remakes ever made, but as I played it over the last couple of weeks, I found a strange paradox at the heart of the game.
The original game’s famously campy English performances were deliberately directed that way, even though that apparently wasn’t the tone the Japanese developers intended. So is the remake more faithful to what Resident Evil was supposed to be? Or is it less faithful to what Resident Evil actually became?
