Deltares has been commissioned by ProRail to investigate the stability of railway embankments. This is being done as part of the RESET programme (Research Embankments for Safe Expansion of Train Traffic), in which we are working with Delft University of Technology to specifically examine the strength of the subsoil beneath railway embankments.
The video shows one of our GeoCentrifuge experiments, where embankment failure mechanisms are replicated under controlled conditions for high-fidelity analysis.
