More and more pressure is being put on big companies to make their products more sustainable and eco friendly.
In particular car manufacturers are seeking out more renewable composites to go into building their vehicles.
And it is through research in to new composites at the University of Portsmouth, that recycled and renewable sources could one day, be used in the cars we drive.
Our reporter Richard Stringer visited the lab, to find out what other uses these new materials could potentially be used for.
