Thursday saw the country go to the polls once again to decide the formation of their local councils.

Nationally both the Conservatives and Labour took looses whilst the Liberal Democrats made huge gains.

Locally Labour held Southampton gaining two seats, the conservatives Held Havant, The New Forest, East Hants and the Test Valley.

The biggest news of the night was the Liberal Democrats took control of Winchester from the Tories whilst also holding Eastleigh.

Our reporter Dan Dove was at the Southampton count to get the reactions as the night unfolded.
