A fire at Islamabad’s state-run Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) killed at least 15 infants on Wednesday, according to reports. The blaze broke out in the mother and child health ward, reportedly after an air-conditioning system fault. One newborn was rescued. A victim’s father alleged serious fire safety lapses and inadequate exits in the ward. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered an immediate investigation and called for strict action against those responsible.
