This is an installation instruction and wiring guide for the generic universal wireless garage door gate receiver switch from AliExpress. This is the SCIMagic SMG-8112. So far it works quite well but please do note that this is not a comprehensive test of the security of this device.

In this video:
- I talk about why you might need this (it replaced an outdated dipswitch receiver on my garage door from Doorlec Quebec / Manaras-Opera / Doorman and Lynx Garage. It was difficult and expensive to replace those remotes and none of the generic universal door remotes worked with the old frequency 313mhz)
- I wire the device into my ancient door motor similar to wiring in a wall button
- I discuss one major point of troubleshooting I had where the circuit was acting more like a light switch rather than a wall button. The garage took two button presses to open and close.
- In order to solve the two remote clicks to activate the garage door motor, the setting is called "inching" in the Tuya Smart app. Tuya Smart then Timers, then Inching and set it to 1 second.
** Make sure to turn inching on if this device is wired as a wall button. The circuit for the wall button is not meant to stay open, leaving it open will cause overheating of other critical components and damage your garage door motor

This device:
- Works with Wi-Fi app Tuya Smart (can set up automations like "hey google")
- Works with generic universal buttons and exterior mounted keypads on the 433.92mhz frequency
- Integrates to Android Auto for use in the vehicle (if you trust connecting it to your wifi)
- Can operate two circuits
- Can use 120V or 7 - 32V power depending on which version you buy
I'm actually impressed so far. This replaced the old automatic door remotes and has functioned quite well. I do wish the remotes were not so fiddly to change the batteries though.
