Most battery security cameras have one major weakness — they often miss the start of events.
The Reolink Altas PT Ultra tries to solve that with pre-record functionality, PTZ tracking, ColorX night vision, and support for scheduled continuous recording from a battery-powered camera.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been testing the Altas PT Ultra in a range of real-world conditions, including:
* night performance in very dark environments
* PTZ tracking and PIR detection
* battery performance with pre-record enabled
* solar charging behaviour
* app responsiveness and notifications
* local storage and smart home features
In this review I take a practical look at where this camera genuinely performs well, where the compromises still exist, and whether this gets closer to a wired CCTV experience than a traditional battery camera setup.
