EcoFlow has officially unveiled its new STREAM 5000 series in the UK, and I was invited to the London launch event at Battersea Power Station to see what’s new.
The new range includes the EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 and STREAM 5000, bringing 5kWh of battery storage, higher power output, expansion options and, on the STREAM 5000, up to 5kW of solar input.
There’s also good news for existing STREAM owners: EcoFlow says support for using first-generation and new-generation STREAM products together via the home’s electrical system is expected in the second half of September. They are not directly daisy-chained together.
I’ve got the STREAM AC 5000 for testing, and a much more detailed Considered video is coming where I’ll be looking beyond the specifications at things such as usable capacity, efficiency, standby consumption, temperatures, noise, app behaviour and how it works alongside an existing home battery system.

⚠️ UK installation note: Plug-in solar rules coming into force in the UK relate to qualifying plug-in solar systems; they do not make plug-in battery storage generally permissible. EcoFlow states that the STREAM AC 5000/STREAM 5000 should be appropriately hardwired for UK grid-connected use. G98/G99 requirements may also apply depending on the installation.
