This small collection consists of short motets by the Spanish composer Cristóbal de Morales.
On the first piece (Ecce virgo concipiet), the soprano and alto sing an E note seven times in the first two measures. Since there is no way to differentiate the two voices on the lute, instead of playing an E seven times in a row, I have lowered the alto voice a major third from an E to a C for a total of three notes. Otherwise, I have rendered all these pieces as literally as possible, though on rare occasions I have dropped a note from an inner voice, especially when it is doubled at the octave in an outer voice, for ease of playability.
