I called Remington today, and after 30 minutes on hold, a nice gentleman picked up, confirmed my serial number, and stated, "The Engineers are redesigning a part". I asked him to repeat it a few times, but each time he said it the same, so I suspect he was reading from a script. Sorry, that's all I have. My gun has been with them for 6 weeks now and I suspect it will be recalled. QC would imply they could just fix it and send it back... REDESIGN implies that the design was wrong in the first place. So, longer wait, but perhaps they will put the effort into it this time that should have gone into it the first time.
I'm not angry. I'm a patient person and I am hoping that patience will pay off.

![Remington R51 Letter of Apology
As the title says, this is a letter of Apology from Remington. Here is the text:
July 25, 2014
Dear [John Galt],
I wanted to update you on the status of the R51 subcompact pistol that you recently returned to Remington. After a thorough and rigorous re-testing period, we have determined that the pistol is safe but does not meet Remingtons high performance criteria. We have identified the performance issues, which resulted from complications during our transition from prototype to mass production. Our engineers are correcting the problem and anticipate production to restart in October.
We understand the frustration associated with this delay and I apologize.
This was unacceptable.
As soon as we are ready to ship, you will be one of the first people to receive a brand new R51.
We are also sending you two additional magazines and a custom Pelican case. We know this doesnt make up for our shortfall, but we hope you accept this gift with our sincere apology and a promise to do better in the future.
You will be happy to know that your new R51 will be of the same exceptional quality that performed flawlessly for numerous industry experts in multiple field trials and tests.
If you have any questions, please contact a Remington Consumer Service Representative at: (800) 243-9700.
We appreciate your patience and support.
Sincerely,
