When hiking I use cues like “careful” for things that might be slippery or have places where injuries could happen. You can teach this by just saying “careful” before asking your dog to go over things like balance discs or things in the environment that are unstable but safe to teach the concept that the word means to pay attention to your movement and foot placement. I also use a cue “slow” for other situations where the dogs need to move slowly past something at a walk.
