Today we honor and remember Deputy Dan McCartney on the 8th anniversary of his line-of-duty death. One of 10 heroes lost in the history of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office—10 too many.
Just before midnight on January 7, 2018, Deputy McCartney gave his life while courageously responding to an armed home invasion in Frederickson. He was 34 years old, a U.S. Navy veteran, a dedicated law enforcement officer, a loving husband to his wife, and a devoted father to three boys.
“Just keep moving.” Is the motto Dan lived by. We do—but we never forget.
