I honestly can't believe it's been two years.
I don't remember everything I went through with this horse. But I remember September 13th for sure. It was likely one of the most emotionally traumatic days of my life. I remember the moment I met her. And I remember some of the happiest days of my life.
I know I've described this day and described what I've gone through with this horse at least a million times. But I don't know that I'll ever be able to forget it.
This horse came into my life at an unexpected time, but I've come to realize all the best things are unexpected. And she was one of the best things.
Even though he was sort of the reason I had to end things with her, I honestly think I should thank her previous owner for giving us a chance. For giving me a chance with her.
This horse and I were far from perfect. But I always saw what we could be. The last day we rode together, and our first day doing English, was one of the most pride-filled days of my life. I was so proud of her. I will always be proud of her.
I've cried at least 10 times while making this and watching it. But now I feel like I have some sense of contentment. I will always miss the memories we made together and the unforgettable months she gave me. Those memories will always leave an ache somewhere inside me, and I've accepted that. Every time I think of her I silently thank her for trying her heart out for me. For putting up with all of the crazy things I put her through. She had so much heart and I will forever be thankful to her.
I'm beyond grateful I was able to see her again in August and have the opportunity to see her whenever I would like now. I am so happy and so thankful that she found a home where she will be loved and adored the way I always wanted her to be. I promised her, on the last day, that I would always love her and I would never let myself forget. And I never have.
It's been a wild journey, loving this horse, but not one I'll forget.
Thank you, Shy.
Thank you for all of it.
