The Welfare Hall in our 1950s Town construction site is very near to completion and the team is now on the final stages of landscaping, decorating and cleaning. The building will soon be handed over from our Construction Team to our Engagement Team, to prepare the exhibit for opening later this year.
Nick Butterley, Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator takes us on a tour of the Welfare Hall and also the Bus Depot construction site which work has recently started on.
Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the project has been awarded £10.9m by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
