Aris Sabetai won third prize with composition ‘Kincsem’, in the Music to Picture category for Guildhall Young Artists competition, 'RELEASE'.
Aris, Age 18 says: “My original score is set to the final sequence from Hugarian Movie 'Kincsem', which has been made available for public use by the Pannonia Film Composition Competition 2020. The score is mainly orchestral, but incorporates a lot of music technology such as distortion and echo, as well as broadening my timbral palette and approach to string and brass techniques.
I aimed to make the score as exciting as possible without getting in the way of the dialogue or overpowering the scene. My main influences are JunkieXL and Ben Wallfisch and I hope you enjoy the score!"
In March 2021, all 1,600 students who access a Saturday music school across the Guildhall Young Artists network, including Junior Guildhall and the Centre for Young Musicians, were invited to submit a composition to four categories: Songwriting, Digital Media, Music to Picture and Concert Music. As well as cash prizes for the top 3 compositions in each category, participants could also win other prizes including an online masterclass with an industry leading artist.
