Aris Sabetai won third prize with composition ‘Ripples’, in the Concert Music category for Guildhall Young Artists competition, 'RELEASE'.
Aris, Age 18 says: "Ripples' is a modern composition that draws inspiration from the movement of water. It is a soundscape and performance piece that aims to create a mesmeric and hypnotic feeling in the listener, as well as developing a sense of ensemble in the performers - moving together and independently from one another, creating a living, breathing organism.
The recording provided was performed by the Rothko Collective ( Anna Brown, Vln1, Leon Human, Vln 2, Jay Boyd, Vla 1, Dominic Stokes, Vla 2, Sandy Scott-Brown, Vlc) and I thank them for their incredible playing."
In March 2021, all 1,600 students who access a Saturday music school across the Guildhall Young Artists network, including Junior Guildhall and the Centre for Young Musicians, were invited to submit a composition to four categories: Songwriting, Digital Media, Music to Picture and Concert Music. As well as cash prizes for the top 3 compositions in each category, participants could also win other prizes including an online masterclass with an industry leading artist.
