*Overview*
For more than five years, the Princeton University Art Museum has been closed to the public while an entirely new facility has been built for its collection, which holds masterpieces from the early Renaissance through to the 19th century and a particularly strong collection of photographic works. But, as with every major building project for an institution, this provides an opportunity to (re)think the collection and what the museum stands for, having been closed throughout the pandemic and reopening at a time when funding for the arts is particularly challenging.
