Whenever I tell people about Redout, I describe the game as a "twin-stick racing game" that requires both analog sticks for steering. Naturally, they're curious as to how that works, so I'm making this video so I can point to it and show just that. The various steering controls are as follows:
Left stick left/right: Normal steering (Rotates ship left and right)
Right stick left/right: Strafing (Ship slides left and right, without rotating)
Right stick up/down: Pitch (Use to prevent grinding the floor when the road curves upwards, and to prevent detaching when the road curves downwards)
D-Pad left/right: Roll (Used only during flight)
In this video are also some more advanced techniques, such as forced detaching (Pitching up to force your ship to detach from the road, opening up shortcut opportunities) and counterstrafing (Strafing in the opposite direction to an upcoming corner, then immediately flipping strafe direction mid-corner, allowing you to take sharper corners at full speed)
Fun side note: In order to get OBS to cooperate with a smooth recording, I had to limit the game's framerate to 60 fps. Turns out, lowering the framerate to this level makes it possible to completely step through the turbo pads at high speeds, which you can see happen in this video. Also, I've been told by some people that upscaling a video to 1440p will force Youtube to use the better vp09 codec, so this video is me testing that as well (Note that this was played and recorded at 1080p, I just stretched it out to 1440p in editing)
