In reality, many of us were not following God; we were following a human leader. We were devoted to someone who claimed to represent the Lord but failed to model His character or teach His actual truth. The version of "God" we served was often a reflection of that leader's control, rather than Christ's love.
Moving forward requires a deliberate process of disentangling the lies from the truth. It involves healing from the manipulation and rebuilding our faith on a new, authentic foundation. It is the journey of meeting God for who He truly is, separate from the people who misrepresented Him.

![What is your relationship with boundaries?
Boundary setting is one of the most empowering tools for healing. Not only in how you share your resources, but also in your communication with others (think saying goodbye to exhaustive confessions and needing to get real with strangers). Learn more in our Rebuilding [After Religious Abuse] digital course – Registration opens April 25th for our first-ever Full Access version. This includes the option of joining our team for a live Q&A time to ask your questions and hear from others who are similarly healing. We wont be offering this again until 2026, so please dont wait!
