The Redeye Ring is actually not worthless! When you wear it, all the enemies target you - which sounds horrible. But when you use it in co-op, you don't have to worry as much about the host dying since you can just tank for the host while all the enemies focus on you. Therefore you are much more likely to kill the boss and keep the host alive when you split roles this way. Even if the host is a noob, it's still possible to get that Sunlight Medal.
