Our favourite season is just around the corner – but we couldn’t wait to kick off FALL MULCH MADNESS! 🪵👏🥳

Twice a year, habitats around the zoo get a refresh with brand-new mulch. This simple addition goes a long way: it cushions hooves and paws, creates cozy bedding, and even becomes the perfect place for our Animal Care, Health & Welfare team to hide delicious snacks. Best of all? That incredible woodsy smell doubles as scent enrichment for animals with powerful snouts – like our Red River hogs. 🐽

This round of enrichment had us squealing with delight – come on over to the African Savannah Building to smell it for yourself!
