Chances are, if you’ve visited our male grizzly cubs in #WildCanadaYYC, you’ve probably seen them digging!
Grizzly bears are known for their digging skills, using their long claws to excavate holes in the ground or even under tree root systems. These holes are used as dens and can be lined with tree boughs or grasses to be bear-y cozy for a bear’s winter sleep. 💤 While our cubs have tunnels for denning on habitat, we love seeing this natural digging behaviour that keeps their minds as sharp as their claws. Stop by to see our cubs ‘Turner’ (darker) and ‘Fitz’ (lighter) in action! 🐻
