This song is the opening track – and first single release – from Return of the Dream Canteen, the thirteenth studio album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was another hit for the band, reaching #1 on the US Alternative Airplay and Rock & Alternative Airplay Charts. As with most songs by the Chili Peppers, this one features a great bass part from Flea.
This funk/rock track features all of the ingredients typically found in a Flea bassline: slap and pop grooves, funky fingerstyle lines and tight unison runs. This line should be played aggressively, but with careful regard to dynamics.
