Shoutouts to Jcool114 for thinking outside the box and coming up with this blooperless route! However, starting from the crane platform as he did, we can't possibly get to the first coin as soon as it becomes tangible (1 second after it spawns), so I had to once again make this IL worse by starting closer to the coin. Like, much worse.
Since you have to be on solid ground to get the red button's textbox, there's no better place to start than the crane platform... at least, no better place above water. There's the seafloor right under the first coin, but sadly, just swimming down to it won't trigger the textbox. We need to momentarily cancel the swimming action, which can be done using a grab.
Sounds simple, until you realize there are two sources for grabbable objects (namely fruits): the infamous fruit machine, and the coconut tree on a high ledge in the farthest corner of the level. The fruit machine seems much more convenient to reach, and the RNG wouldn't be an issue since we just need any fruit except durian, but it has a special property: its fruits despawn after 40 seconds, instead of 2 minutes for any other fruit in the entire game. It's just not enough to clip under the water, drop the fruit, store the button and come back, so the coconut tree is the only option left.
Getting there is not so bad, but there's nowhere safe to throw the coconut once you get it, so you have to swim with it. I use the rocket nozzle platform to skip some of the swimming and get to the vertical crane, which is both the way back to land and the way to get pushed out of bounds. Here I have to be careful about the water surface, as swimming off the edge of it can downwarp me into the void or softlock me, but also about not getting back in bounds too high, as Mario will act like there's a water surface wherever he reenters. Despite that, the coconut doesn't despawn here, so I can put it down under the arrow platform, store the red button, get in position, use the coconut to trigger the textbox, and simply wait for Mario to float back up to the surface!
And then fail the starting Y storage. A lot. Or take way longer than I'd like to admit to realize that holding forward during the spinjump from 2nd to 3rd coin was aiming the turbo nozzle up, pushing me down and making the jump practically impossible. This was only my 4th time successfully sticking to the route up to the 3rd coin, and first time getting any further, but 1:39.65 should be possible... given enough patience

![Lily Pad Ride – 0x A Presses [S/H/Y] (OUTDATED)
This video is outdated. See its successor here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fv-yDqgX6A
I collect the Lily Pad Ride secret Shine without pressing the A button, using only the Spray and Hover Nozzles, as well as Yoshi.
Getting Yoshi to the island the normal way without A seems impossible, but all known ways to get him underwater in Delfino Plaza involved pressing A and/or falling out of bounds, where all we can do is press A.
That is, until now. I haven’t seen a video explaining this yet (will probably make one myself), but people have definitely fallen victim to this glitch while attempting EYG. Basically, when you touch the ground at the same time that you mount Yoshi, he stays in place but moves to the height where Mario just landed. The difference in height is usually pretty small because you have to be so close to Yoshi to mount him, but we can still use it to clip through the ground in some places.
But how is that different from the other OoB glitches? Well, this one can be performed right next to the water, allowing us to clip back in bounds (but underwater) before we fall too low. Once this is done, we can simply run to the island, unlock the pipe, and enter the secret area.
Inside the secret area, there’s no need for A presses anyway… until the last two coins. The 7th coin can be obtained by simply hovering from the side of the river, but the 8th is way above the ground. Hovering from the pipe gets just below the coin, then we can ground pound to grab it.

![Yoshi’s Fruit Adventure – 0x A Presses [Y]
I collect the Ricco 8 Shine without pressing the A button, using only Yoshi.
Grassdigger came up with a way to reach the top of the fruit machines and get two fruits out of them without A or F.L.U.D.D.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6xKNEkScYQ However, since the valve is so far away from the second machine, there’s no way to get more than two without going back to the beginning and starting over, which would give the initial fruits enough time to despawn.
This means that the silly restriction I took last time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2chBZPliyVk), to get Yoshi to the cage with only two fruits, turns out to be the only way to collect this Shine without A or F.L.U.D.D.!
This video is TAS, played on Dolphin 5.0 with the PAL version of the game.
