Recreating the Lyre of King David - the second in a new series of demonstrations of the incredible recreation by Luthieros, of the lyre depicted in the Megiddo Ivory Carving (circa 1,300 BCE). Depicting the lyre player performing at a Canaanite Feast, this is exactly the same kind of lyre which David would have been familiar with, from the same region, in almost the same time frame!
The receiving this incredible lyre marks almost 14 years since I have had the honour of collaborating with Luthieros, featuring an ever-growing selection of their beautiful instruments in my ongoing digital albums & single releases, YouTube & Instagram presentations.
If only I could have got my hands on a lyre like this, when I was putting together my very first album, "King David's Lyre; Echoes of Ancient Israel" way back in 2008...I feel a new EP album in progress will be happening real soon!
The piece featured in this presentation, is my arrangement for recreated 10-string Biblical lyre, of the sacred Jewish melody sang to "Kol Nidre (All Vows" - traditionally sang during Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) - as also featured as track 2 on my debut 2008 album, "King David's Lyre; Echoes of Ancient Israel":
