What to add a ring to your sci-fi scene? Or something else in orbit? This video covers the basics of sky replacement, but instead of adding a different sky, I chose to add planetary rings in one video, the look of the Halo's Ring from the surface in another video. And then for good measure, I added Helios from Borderlands 2 (my wife and I still play it regulary - couch co-op rules).
The process is pretty straight-forward:
- Track your footage either through motion tracking or I found easier results with camera tracking
- Create your space object (I run through making a Ring again)
- Use Keylight to remove the blue from a duplicate of your sky and then use that as a luma matte for your ring / space station / curved Forerunner world.
