1176 + LA2A vocal compression shootout || Free plugins (analog obssession) vs UAD vs Analog hardware
My name is Paul Third and this week on mixing Wednesday i have another compressor plugin shootout and also an analog hardware vs plugins shootout. We are streaming universal audio 1176LN & teletronix la2a analog gear via access analog and mix:analog.
This vocal compression trick has been used by many big audio engineers, most famously by the 'chris lord alge vocal compression trick' where you use an fast 1176 rev A to catch peaks and a slow opto compressor to smooth out the harsh compression of the 1176.
How if you are asking yourself how to level a vocal using compression then this vocal mixing trick will definitely level out vocals as well as adding 3D vocal character.
