DDMF PLUGINDOCTOR TUTORIAL | Understanding eq curves, oversampling & THD when plugin testing
My name is Paul Third (scottish youtubers / mixing engineer) and this week I have made up a little plugin doctor tutorial as plugin analysers are viewed by many almost like dark magic when in reality its actually quite straightforward (kinda) .. its just that you have to understand it first. In this plugindoctor tutorial we are going to look into linear tests and how to use them properly, how to measure non-linear behaviours (THD & compression) more consistently via the Hammerstein and fundamental sweep feature in the harmonic section.
I'm going to use plugin alliance Lindell 80 series and tone empire model 5000 (SSL g bus & api 2500 compressor hybrid) as examples for this plugin test
Hopefully by the end of it all us audio engineers can come together to have a better understanding of using plugindoctor as a plugin tester and how to come to more informed decisions when measuring plugins.
