It has been a while since I unboxed a Yokomo Ready To Run drift car package. I got my hands on the Rookie Drift 1.5 as I call it...because half the car is RD 2.0 spec and the other half is RD 1.0 spec. Still, it works out nicely for a RTR spec car. As always during these types of unboxings, the goal is to see how quickly we can get the car out of the box and prepared for running on track. Well...the more I examined the car I kept finding little things to address from the factory assembly process. I also decided to do some light tuning and preventive maintenance before going on track. It took me nearly 30 min to get the car on track. Once on the track we all immediately noticed steering issues. It turns out that the factory servo is defective as it would becoming unresponsive to inputs and the car was un-driveable on track. That was annoying for sure as this could have been prevented with some quick testing at the factory. After the video was completed, we installed a Yokomo SP-02 V2 servo and put it straight into this car without any setting changes. The car was very driveable after this with no front wheel wobbles at all. A couple people drove it as well after the servo change and they all agreed the car was amazing after that and would make a really nice rental car. I will film a follow up to this video to showcase the servo change and how the car behaves now.
