Slycat is a system that is designed specifically around the idea of ensemble analysis, allowing users to sit at their desktops and explore terabytes of data without having to have that kind of capability locally. A Slycat model takes analysis results generated remotely and brings artifacts from that together to be able to visualize and explore aspects of the lower level models. It combines that with an interactive capability that lets the user pose different questions and different hypotheses while looking at different levels of abstractions.
Slycat has been used to analyze data in a number of different domains. It has been used predominantly at the Labs for circuit analysis, physics problems, model verification and validation. From census data and health records to weather and climate, there are a variety of things sampled across time and space. In that broad context, Slycat affects all of these different domains and could be extended into them.
