We wanted to see what our R/C boat models looked like in super-slow motion, so we borrowed a smartphone from MrMobile and Clove Technology to do some filming. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium's camera shoots video at a maximum of 960 frames per second, which slows even the fastest of our model boats to a crawl. Our road to creating the Model Titanic Splits video series has been a long and challenging one.
On the way, we made many sinking attempts that ended in failure (no hull break-up). Some of these videos, though, were still interesting to watch. This is one.
Disclaimer: The real Titanic did not sink this way.
This video shows Titanic sinking due a a phenomenon called sagging. The ship is flooding amidships, but still supported by the buoyancy of the bow & stern. She floods quickly and sinks to the bottom.

This video shows Titanic sinking some distance off-shore, in bright mid-day conditions. Separation charge smoke can be seen, but the ship sinks intact.
