Rawson Lake is a gem of Peter Lougheed Prov. Park in Kananaskis. But even more exquisite is the hike to Sarrail Ridge, just beyond!

If you are looking for a moderate hike with great payoff Rawson Lake Trail is the hike for you! This trail also needs to the more difficult Sarrail Ridge. A short hike from the Upper Kananaskis Lake Trailhead and up a moderately steep trail leads you to an alpine gem! In the warm summer months from July-Aug Rawson Lake is an ideal spot for a mountain picnic or even a dip in the icy waters to cool down. You can even go fishing! With 320 meters of elevation to climb, be prepared to take a few stops on the way up the 3.9 km path to Rawson Lake.
For those who are feeling particularly adventurous, Rawson Lake Trail leads to the infamous Sarrail Ridge! Sarrail Ridge offers unparalleled views of the Upper Kananaskis Lake in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. It is also one of the more popular difficult hikes in the region. It's another 350 m of elevation but in much short distance. This means Sarrail Ridge is a VERY steep mountain hike, and should only be attempted experienced hikers in ideal conditions. The climb up Sarrail Ridge is worth it, however, offering amazing views back down to Rawson Lake as well.
