Most birds will vigorously defend their nests and adjacent territories from predators, and this Raven is no exception. Attacking a Red-Tailed Hawk which is 2-3 times its size, this Raven made multiple dives at the intruder, and on once pass actually appeared to make contact, startling the Hawk. The harassment continued off and on for nearly 30 minutes before the Hawk had finally had enough and relocated to another perch some distance away.
These scenes were filmed with a Casio EX-F1 high-speed camera at 300fps, resulting in a 10x slower than real life playback. The zoom was maxed-out at 12x, and the camera's native 512x384 frame size was up-scaled to 720p, so the resolution isn't so great. Still, it's an interesting show, especially watching the Raven's graceful aerobatics and the Hawk's reactions...
