Rathalos are male Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter. Having appeared in every single Monster Hunter game in the series, including spin-offs, Rathalos are considered an icon of the Monster Hunter series. Rathalos are large, bipedal wyverns with a spiny, armored hide covering their body. Their outer shell features much brighter and more vibrant colors than that of their female counterpart, the Rathian. It is primarily bright red, with black markings throughout. Like the Rathian, Rathalos possess a flame sac which is used to produce deadly flaming projectiles from the mouth. The talons upon their feet are highly poisonous and are known to inflict toxic mortal wounds on larger prey. In addition, their long, thick tail features a heavy spiked club at the end. Rathalos' wing membranes feature ornate patterns which are likely used to attract potential mates.

The Oilwell Basin is a large cavernous volcanic ecosystem filled with vast caves, tar pits, oil lakes and large thermal vents spewing smoke and other gases. The Azuz tribe live in this place, turning its heat energy into a power source for the Everforge to make weapons and also to mine for minerals. Many man-made pipes and ancient machines can be found in this area too.

Gore Magala are monsters of an unknown type introduced in Monster Hunter 4. Gore Magala is a very unique wyvern, sharing traits and similarities to that of the Elder Dragons, possessing six limbs, including the clawed wings on its back. Though, its overall appearance and stance resembles a quadrupedal wyvern. Its body is covered in dark exoskeleton plates, with notable features including the hidden feelers that are folded alongside its face, the lack of visible eyes and fanged jaws that are actually parts of its external armor plates. The other unique part is its wings, which are covered in jet-black fur that resemble a tattered and ragged cape. The claws on its wings are extremely prehensile, and even seem to possess opposable thumbs. They are used for grabbing, help at running and maintaining stability. When not engaged in combat, Gore Magala tends to cloak its body with its wings by latching them onto its back.

Uth Duna is a massive reptilian Leviathan with a hefty quadrupedal body. It has a narrow, arapaima fish-like face equipped with powerful jaws and small sharp teeth. Its body is covered in colorful red and lustrous scales in a striped pattern that looks similar to the ones of an Arapaima. Uth Dunas most recognizable features are the massive translucent and watery fins on its head, back, forelimbs, and tail. When these fins are devoid of water and damaged, Uth Duna will retract these fins and become more slender in appearance like a salamander.

Magma Almudron is a Leviathan and Subspecies of Almudron first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Magma Almudron is bluish gray and crimson in color, with a red glow that can be seen through the seams between its shell. It is noticeably smaller than the normal Almudron. Magma Almudron skillfully uses its tail to spread magma along the ground. Magma Almudron can secrete a special liquid which allows it to melt the the ground itself. This allow it to dig into the hot volcanic ground, and by doing so, causes some of its body parts to heat up and soften. It can creates pillars of magma to stand on before it eventually explodes. It can also hold a magma-mud ball with its tail like how the normal Almudron holds a mud ball. It can use the magma bad like a bludgeon to hit its foes before it explodes the moment it hits the ground.

Zoh Shia is a Construct, and the first final boss of Monster Hunter Wilds. Its initial appearance takes the form of an artificial angel-dragon. Its body covered in a sleek, paste-white shell of pure Wylk (Wyvern Milk) crystal with a smooth, featureless face and numerous crystal formations all over its body and wing arms that curve upwards like feathers. Its mouth, which is normally not visible when closed, has unnatural blue flesh and small teeth. The Wylk crystals on its limbs give all its claws a feathery covering.

Velkhana is a traditional dragon with the slim, upright body structure of Elder Dragons like Kushala Daora. Its scales and shell are a unique crystalline blue. Its head has a tiara-like crown of small horns. It summons ice to cover its wings, limbs, and tail. Its thin, lance-like tail is highly flexible and can jab at enemies.

Scorned Magnamalo are Fanged Wyverns and Variants of Magnamalo first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Its appearance differences from a standard Magnamalo are its elongated, oddly jagged arm-blades and fangs, its larger and more jagged shells on the shoulder, its tail being in expanded state at all times, and is missing the right eye and horn. Its body is now a dark purple with red scars all over its body, similar to the appearance of the Apex Monsters found in Kamura. Its body is shrouded in Hellfire at all times. Scorned Magnamalo has been spotted in a variety of areas such as the Citadel, Shrine Ruins, Flooded Forest (MHRise), Lava Caverns, and Coral Palace.

Espinas is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier Season 2.0. Its appearance is physically similar to a Rathian, but alongside scales its body is covered in hot pink spikes full of venom and rough green armor plating. A long, pink, venom-filled horn protrudes from the front of its head, in a similar fashion to Monoblos. Venomous thorns also protrude from its body, wings, tail, feet, and head. Its body, tail, and feet are bigger and more muscular than those of other Flying Wyverns. It has four pink claws upon its feet. Red-orange veins will appear when it is in its enraged state, similar to Tigrex.

Mizutsune is a Leviathan first introduced in Monster Hunter Generations. Like most other Leviathans, Mizutsune has a long, slender body. However, it is one of the few Leviathans to actually have fur on its body. This dark purple fur covers its chest, underbelly, legs and tail. Its scales are light colored and resemble those of a fish. Its head has a long snout and is beautifully adorned by many fin-like appendages. These fins are pink with yellow markings, and they can also be seen on its back and tail. Its feet are said to be quite different from other Leviathans and allow Mizutsune to move swiftly on land.

Risen Kushala Daora / 傀異克服 クシャルダオラ is an Elder Dragon and Risen variant of Kushala Daora first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Its appearance is noticeably different from a standard Kushala Daora, with most of its body darkened with certain parts (their heads and torsos) retaining their metallic grey coloring. Its body is covered in wounds resembling burns, which have a bright orange glow upon entering its Risen state. This version of Kushala Daora has overcome being afflicted by the Qurio and has become more powerful as a result. It gains more wind based attacks including being able to fire larger blasts of wind by swiping its claws and creating a giant explosion using wind.

Nu Udra is a massive monster heavily resembling an octopus. It has six large limbs which it uses for locomotion and attacking, with its remaining two limbs being reduced and used to shield its mouth. Its dark green skin is covered in blue and black stripes, but at most times appears dark due to the creature being covered in a thick layer of black oilsilt at all times, which can be ignited at will when Nu Udra is enraged. The tentacles and mantle of the monster are covered in many thorny spines. Its most striking features are its bioluminescent blue eye stalks, along with glowing spots on the end of its main six limbs; these glowing spots act as sensory organs as the cephalopod itself is mostly blind.
