Yes, you are watching a group of catfish go for a stroll on land. Not a regular sight, but this is what can happen when you hang out with airbreathing catfish.
This rare footage was captured on an Africam Live Cam at Naledi Bush Lodge in South Africa. It shows several African sharptooth catfish wriggling onto land and going for a walk (or their best impression of a walk, anyway).
They were coming in and out of the water for around 20 minutes. It’s a rarely seen behavior, and even less often caught on camera. Why do they do it?
