Rapper Wacko Final Moments Before Death💔
Damon “Wacko” Grison, a respected New Orleans rap veteran, has reportedly died at the age of 46. Born and raised in the city’s rich hip-hop culture, Wacko became known as a member of UTP, the influential New Orleans collective associated with Juvenile and Skip. His career was closely connected to the city’s distinctive Southern rap sound, and he earned respect for his lyrical ability, delivery and unmistakable New Orleans style.
Wacko’s biggest contribution came through UTP’s 2004 anthem “Nolia Clap,” which he helped co-write. The song became a defining record of the New Orleans rap movement of that era and reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. Fellow New Orleans artist Mia X remembered Wacko as an exceptionally gifted rapper with strong wordplay, a unique cadence and genuine passion for his craft. She also revealed that he had been working on new music before his death, suggesting that his creative journey was still continuing.
The circumstances surrounding Wacko’s death have now raised questions after his friend Troy M. Sims Sr. described what he says happened at the hospital. According to Sims, 911 was called after Wacko complained of chest pains, and when Sims arrived at the hospital roughly an hour later, he says the rapper was still alert and talking. Sims claims medical staff subsequently administered Thorazine, after which Wacko suffered a seizure approximately three minutes later and later went into cardiac arrest. He says doctors attempted to revive him for around 20 minutes but were unsuccessful.
Sims has alleged, “In my opinion the hospital killed him,” while questioning why the medication was given. However, those statements remain an allegation from Wacko’s friend and have not been independently verified. Wacko’s official cause of death has not been publicly confirmed, so it would be premature to conclude that the medication or hospital treatment caused his death. For now, New Orleans is mourning an artist whose voice and contributions helped shape an important chapter of the city’s hip-hop history.
