Randy is a musician based in Brooklyn, New York. One day I approach him with a proposal: Would he be part of a film without knowing anything about it beforehand?. The answer was Yes.
What happens when we let go of trying to control the circumstances of life, and instead just go wherever the stream takes us? We made this film without much planning ahead. Whatever happened happened, whatever people came our way, whatever advice we were given, whatever conversations unfolded – that’s what we filmed.
With a thumbed copy of the Tao te Ching in his backpocket, Randy bravely jumped into this river, which took him to a frosty Swedish small town named Borlänge, known for the dome shaped mall ‘Kupolen’, its famous steel company SSAB and a now gone but once feared mafia family.
“Randy evaluates Sweden” is an exorcise in faith, chance and probability. And an opportunity to get to know the Swedes a bit better. A film by Mattias Olsson & Ahang Bashi.
