Welcome to the Winter edition of Rail Around New South Wales for 2026 where we'd covered some heritage trips around May and August . First we see more electric train action from Historic Electric Traction, the Sydney Bus Museum and Sydney Tramway Museum with K61 set on the 'Silver Sunset Tour' at Hurstville station, one of its many stops.
Then we see some steam action with R766 who for the first time in history of the R class had become the first member of its class to travel through the Sydney suburbs after finally given accreditation from Sydney Trains. We see travelling to Kiama and departing Sydney Central station for Goulburn.
We also went down to Thirlmere to take part of their annual Day Out With Thomas with 2705 masquerading once again as James the Red Engine.
