Here's a 1-life replay of R-Type arcade version. They dont come much classic than this. I was always a fan of the original in the arcades but it was next to Shinobi in my local videoshop so that stole the most of my 10p's from my paper-round back in the 80's. I did used to play the amazing ZX Spectrum version at home alot growing up, but my R-Type bug hit full speed when I got the Master System version. I had the PC Engine version later on in the early 90's but having only the first 4 levels really killed it for me..

Anyway here's a replay of me completing R-Type with 1-life, well the first loop anyway.. I swear the 2nd loop has x5 as many bullets and it also seems to require all new tactics. I'm not sure I have it in me to learn it...
