Here's one I'll bet most of you haven't heard! I certainly hadn't.
Another notable upgrade from the circulating rip! Column 88 is a tape that is firmly planted in its recording year of 1981, it only sounds like an indie tape that could have been recorded at that time. Maybe late 2018-early 2019 as well. It's a mix of anxious wiry New Wave jams, early digital field recordings, and great analog computer bloops. A fantastic listen, packed into a compact 60-minute tape! How futuristic!
This one has some great moments like the wonderful opener I Miss My Girl, the hellish Moon River cover, and Making Myself Miserable sounding like something a self-loathing DEVO might produce. Notable audio skits include a Speak N' Spell complimenting Stevie (how kind), a news broadcast about a certain murder, and the drunken ramblings of Brian Wilson's father.
Perhaps not a super Stevie-esque listen, but a great cage rattler.
