Kōkiladhvani, another lesser known rāga, is a janya of the 28th mēḷa Harikāmbhōji. There are two compositions of Tyāgarāja in this rāga namely, Tolinēnu jēsina and Koniyāḍē. Tyāgarāja has composed in rare or Vinta rāga-s as referred to by himself in his composition Mitri bhāgyamē in the rāga Kharaharapriya where he says “Bāguga Vintarāgamulō nālāpamu sēyaga mēnu pulagariñcaka” – that is, to render ālāpana in various rare rāga-s and immerse in joy.
