AT&T Mobility LLC, also known as AT&T Wireless marketed as simply AT&T, is a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T that provides wireless services to 138.8 million subscribers in the United States[4] including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. AT&T Mobility is the second largest wireless telecommunications provider in the United States and Puerto Rico behind Verizon Wireless and the largest wireless telecommunications provider in North America when including AT&T Mexico.
Originally known as Cingular Wireless from 2000 to 2007, a joint venture between SBC Communications and BellSouth, the company acquired the old AT&T Wireless in 2004; SBC later acquired the original AT&T. Cingular became wholly owned by AT&T in December 2006 as a result of AT&Ts acquisition of BellSouth.
In January 2007, Cingular confirmed it would re-brand itself under the AT&T name. Although the legal corporate name change occurred immediately, for both regulatory and brand-awareness reasons both brands were used in the companys signage and advertising during a transition period.[5] The transition concluded in late June, just prior to the rollout of the Apple iPhone.
On March 20, 2011, AT&T Mobility announced its intention to acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion. If it had received government and regulatory approval, AT&T would have had more than 130 million subscribers.[6] However, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Communications Commission, and AT&T Mobilitys competitors (such as Sprint Corporation) opposed the move on the grounds that it would substantially reduce competition in the cellular network market. In December 2011, in the face of both governmental and widespread consumer opposition, AT&T withdrew its offer to complete the merger.[7] Cingular Wireless Spiderman - Tv commercial - 2002](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/l83YCxHXqk0/mqdefault.jpg)

Blockbuster LLC, formerly Blockbuster Entertainment, Inc.,[4] and also known as Blockbuster Video[5] or simply Blockbuster, was an American-based provider of home movie and video game rental services through video rental shops, DVD-by-mail, streaming, video on demand, and cinema theater.[6] Blockbuster became internationally known throughout the 1990s. At its peak in 2004, Blockbuster employed 84,300 people worldwide, including about 58,500 in the United States and about 25,800 in other countries, and had 9,094 stores in total, with more than 4,500 of these in the US.[7][8][9][10]
Competition from the Netflix mail-order service, Redbox automated kiosks, and video on demand services were major factors in Blockbusters eventual demise. Blockbuster began to lose significant revenue during the 2000s, and in 2010, the company filed for bankruptcy protection.[11][12] The following year, its remaining 1,700 stores were bought by satellite television provider Dish Network.[13][14]
While the Blockbuster brand has mostly been retired, Dish maintained a small number of Blockbuster franchise agreements, which allowed some stores to remain open in a few markets, namely Oregon in the US and Australia abroad. T-Mobile is the brand name used by the mobile communications subsidiaries of the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG. The brand is active in Austria (under the subsidiary T-Mobile Austria), the Czech Republic (T-Mobile Czech Republic), the Netherlands (T-Mobile Nederland), Poland (T-Mobile Polska), and the United States (T-Mobile US). The name was previously used by subsidiaries in other countries, including Albania (now Telekom Albania), Croatia (now Hrvatski Telekom), Germany (now Deutsche Telekom), Hungary (now Magyar Telekom), Macedonia (now Makedonski Telekom), Montenegro (now Crnogorski Telekom), the United Kingdom (now EE Limited), Romania (now Telekom Romania), and Slovakia (now Slovak Telekom).[1]
Deutsche Telekom previously owned the holding company T-Mobile International AG for its mobile communications subsidiaries.[2] From 2003 to 2007 T-Mobile International was one of Deutsche Telekoms segments beside the segments of Broadband/Fixnet, Business Customers and Group HQ and Shared Services. T-Mobile International AG then lost relevance when Deutsche Telekom transformed its structure to adopt a regional setup (Germany, Europe, USA) in 2009 by combining its previously separated fixed and mobile subsidiaries to form integrated local businesses.[3]
When T-Mobile International AG existed, the holding company was based in Bonn, Germany and its subsidiaries operated GSM, UMTS and LTE-based cellular networks in Europe, the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The company had financial stakes in mobile operators in both Central and Eastern Europe. Globally, T-Mobile Internationals subsidiaries had a combined total of approximately 230 million subscribers. T-Mobile International was the worlds thirteenth-largest mobile-phone service provider by subscribers and the fourth-largest multinational after the UKs Vodafone, Indias Airtel, and Spains Telefónica.[4] T Mobile voice stream - tv commercial - Jamie Lee Curtis - 2002](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/lR-bBLpFAEU/mqdefault.jpg)

The predecessor to Magnavox was founded in 1911 by Edwin Pridham and Peter L. Wometco was founded in 1925 as the Wolfson-Meyer Theater Company, a movie theatre chain based in Miami. The companys co-founders were brothers-in-law Mitchell Wolfson (1900–1983) and Sidney Meyer.[1] The first movie theater opened by the firm was the Capitol Theater in downtown Miami, built in 1926. Over the years the company built up the largest chain of movie theaters in South Florida, and adopted the portmanteau name of Wometco sometime in the 1950s.
In 1949 Wometco moved into broadcasting with the founding of WTVJ in Miami, Floridas first television station. The station signed on in March 1949 from studios inside the Capitol Theatre, which was renovated for television. Wometco purchased WLOS-AM-FM-TV in Asheville, North Carolina in 1958, and KVOS-TV in Bellingham, Washington was added in 1961. In 1976 Wometco bought WTVG (now WFUT-TV) in Newark, New Jersey, and in 1978 acquired WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1977 Wometco launched a nationwide, over-the-air subscription television service called Wometco Home Theater, using WTVG as its flagship station.
Wometco expanded its non-entertainment holdings in 1955, with the opening of the Miami Seaquarium. It bought the Blue Circle hamburger chain, based in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1966, but sold it in 1974. WOMETCO cable tv promo - 1996](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mlaqtuDJfT8/mqdefault.jpg)
