Starting out in woodworking doesn’t mean you need expensive tools. While big, costly tools can make things easier, not having them doesn’t make the job impossible. When I first began, I bought a lot of pre-cut stock. The hardest part was getting a straight, accurate 90˚ cut on the edges.
This jig is a game-changer, especially if you’re using a budget-friendly circular saw (some as low as $30). To be honest, even with all the tools I have now, I’m looking forward to using this jig to break down my materials into more manageable pieces. Simply put, this is one of the squarest cutting DIY jigs I think I've ever made, and if you don't have a big budge, this cut off jig and a circular saw will get you far.
