Josh Homme lit a cigarette on stage at Ford Field in Detroit after Queens of the Stone Age were warned that smoking anywhere on the property would cost the band $10,000. He did it in front of 35,000 people, seconds before the band closed with "A Song for the Dead."

It happened August 6, 2026, on night two of the Foo Fighters' Take Cover Tour, with Queens in the opening slot and Mannequin Pussy on the bill. According to the Detroit Metro Times, Ford Field bans smoking and vaping everywhere inside the building, there was no designated area for the band, and Queens spent part of the night wandering the stadium corridors looking for anywhere they were allowed to light up.
