I spoke with Juliet Scherer, PhD, about qualitative research in education, developmental education, and community colleges, as well as the relationship between educational access and student achievement.

Juliet earned her PhD from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and is a Professor of English at St. Louis Community College. In this interview, we discuss using qualitative methods to understand students’ experiences, the opportunities and challenges associated with open-admission community colleges, and her work as an author and collaborator on books spanning higher education, leadership, wrestling, and children’s literature.
