Kevs Woodworks | Q2 2022 Shop Update : Q&A @KevsWoodworks | Uploaded June 2022 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
2nd Quarter Shop Update! I waited until the day before I left to shoot this video so that I didn’t have to try and shoot if from a hotel room while on the road for work. It’s actually being shot a few weeks early but, it’s the best I could do considering we just returned from the birth of out first grandchild.

Viewer Questions .

• Got asked for some pictures of the cradle in use as well as the dresser. We had such a quick trip that I just didn’t get many pictures of these items in use. I was pretty busy just enjoying my granddaughter! More pictures to come I’m sure.
• I got askes what size the dominos were for the slats in the cradle – They were 4 x 20s
• Got a request to see my wife’s quilting room. The Quilt Rack video is complete and on the schedule for release. It’s currently scheduled for an August 13th release.
• I got asked what blade I was running on my band saw to get the glue ready cuts on the Table Lazy Susans. I’m running a ¼” 10tpi blade. The cuts aren’t as clean on thicker material but, work great for these.
• Thanks to everyone for their feedback on Ray’s Shop Tour! It really is a fun shop to work projects in!
• Got asked how long it takes in real time to wax all those clamps. Not as long as you might think because I try and stay on top of it. I think they took me a couple hours to get through.
• Got asked if I sharpen all the chisels and planes or just the ones most frequently used. I sharpen them all. I just don’t keep track of which ones I used so, they all get a tune up. Obviously, some get a little more work than others.
• Got asked how many table saw blades I keep on hand. I keep 4 Forrest WWIIs on hand in 40T regular kerf. When 2 are dull, I ship them off for sharpening. The ones I just sent (2) cost me $65.00 for sharpening and return shipping.
• Got asked what I do to prepare my shop when I’m gone for long periods of time. Fortunately, not a lot. I live in a pretty dry climate so don’t have the rust issues that someone in a humid climate would have to deal with. I do ensure that everything is unplugged and I especially ensure that there are not batteries left on chargers. My wife is also in there several times a week so keeps a good eye on things for me!

Coming Up:

• The following is a list of the videos that will be coming out before the next shop Q&A – As I’ll be gone for work, these videos are already shot and ready for release.
o Router Table Enclosure
o Quick and Easy Bookshelves
o Box Joint Jig Review
o Quilt Ladder
o Drawer Organization
o Planer Sleds
• Still lots of other projects planned for this year but, my work schedule will drive which projects I go after. I’m ready for another big project for sure!
• We’re looking into adding a building to the property so, there will be some videos there as well. We’re just not sure if that’s going to get started this year or not due to availability of local contractors. Like most everyone else, the construction industry is crazy here right now!

Social Media Stuff:

• Website - We’re currently caught up on plans so, if there’s something you really want plans for, let me know. It’s seeing increased traffic and plan downloads!
• Amazon Affiliate Page - I really appreciate the support and it’s helping! There’s a link above to the affiliate page. Whether it’s me or anther content creator, this is a great way to support those creators at no cost to you.
• Instagram – Just a crazy year and I’m way behind on this platform! Apologies. I will be adding a few more pictures as the video releases for some of these projects get closer. I’m trying to space these out a bit so I’m not going so long without posting anything. Thanks for following!
• YouTube – Crazy work year but, we’re still on schedule with content! That “Hiatus” video could be coming if I get held over on this current job which includes a pretty cool giveaway! Stay tuned. Thanks to all that have recently subbed! It really is appreciated!
• Forum Site – It’s all about the members – Welcome to the new members! I hope you’re enjoying the content and conversations!
